About the Researcher

Reid Vancelette is a PhD candidate in Linguistics at the Graduate Center, CUNY. He is interested in bilingualism and second language acquisition in languages like Russian and Lithuanian. His research explores how people acquire different aspects of a language — such as vocabulary, grammar, and sentence structure — and how they use what they’ve learned in real-time comprehension and communication.
Reid teaches linguistics courses at Queens College and received his MPhil in Linguistics from the Graduate Center, CUNY. He earned a bachelor’s degree in both Linguistics and Russian from the University of Iowa and spent one year studying abroad in Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russian in Saint Petersburg, Russia. He is planning to defend his dissertation in Fall 2025.
He speaks English and has varying levels of proficiency in Russian, Lithuanian, and Spanish.
